This image of still, flat water was taken in the early in the morning at about 8am, the sun is still quite low and the effect of this can be seen on the rocks to the right of the photograph where the surfaces are either in light or deep shadow depending on the orientation. Compositionally I opted for more sky than landscape to open up the feeling of space and to further complement this I used a wide angle lens for this scene. Through habit more than anything else, I have kept an ND filter on my wide angle lens (mainly to protect the lens), so this has meant in general slightly slower shutter speeds. So this was captured with f/9 and 1/40 second. Maybe I could have sharpened the amount of the image in focus by having an aperture of f/11 possibly and adjusting the shutter speed accordingly if I was to shoot this again in the exact same conditions. Overall, I am very happy with this image as it does capture a good mirror image of the hill in the water.
